Will you join us as we begin a 42-day journey as a church family?

The most basic question everyone faces in life is Why am I here? What is my purpose?

Self-help books suggest that people should look within, at their own desires and dreams, but the bible says the starting place must be with God and his eternal purposes for each life. Real meaning and significance comes from understanding and fulfilling God’s purposes for putting us on earth.

What on earth am I here for?’ is designed to help us discover how we fit in to God’s plans, both as individuals and a church family. Many of us have lots of gifts and abilities but often it’s not very obvious how God wants us to use them. The 42 days are designed to help us figure out where we fit in.

There will be central sessions each week for six weeks, combined with daily Bible readings to think about at home. We’re also offering everyone the opportunity of a follow-up chat to see how we’ve been getting on and what we’ve discovered.

We’d love you to be part of it by joining one of the three central sessions and using the daily Bible reading booklet at home in between. The central sessions will all be held in church but will be very informal. There will be a mix of Bible teaching, questionnaires and discussion, with the usual refreshments.

The programme kicks off with the first session on Ash Wednesday 6th March, repeated in the morning of Friday 8th March and again in the afternoon of Monday 11th March.
(The Friday morning session will have a creche available for pre-school children.)

Sessions are all at St Thomas’ Church. Please choose between:

The Purpose-Driven Life helps us apply this wonderful truth to our individual lives. It helps us understand God’s incredible plan for our lives and see the big picture of what life is all about and begin to live the life God created them to live.

It’s designed for Christians living in the 21st century … but points us to a lifestyle based on eternal purposes, not cultural values. Using biblical stories and letting the Bible speak for itself, we’ll work through how we can discover God’s purpose for for each of us.
